Global Junior Challenge - Call for proposals for innovative use of technology in society

Endorsed by the Municipality of Rome, the Global Junior Challenge is an international competition that honours and rewards individuals for innovative use of technology for education, unity and intercultural cooperation.

The GJC offers an opportunity to participating individuals to contemplate the significance of the challenges posed by 21st century education. It also showcases how technology can be used for social integration and reduction of world poverty.

This year there will special categories in GJC, a novelty for the 2012 edition:
• ICT for the integration of immigrants and refugees” in collaboration with the United Nations Alliance Civilization (UNAOC),
• ICT for sustainable environmental development” in partnership with Legambiente and
• ICT for the Social Participation of youth” in collaboration with UNAOC to promote projects developed by the new generations that produced true social change.

Eligibility Criteria:

The competition is open to each of the following entities:

• Schools and universities, both public and private, worldwide
• Public and private institutions and organisations
• Associations, cooperatives and other non-profit organisations
• Public and private companies
• research Centres
• Individual citizens of any age
• Project Evaluation Criteria:

General Criteria

Eligible projects will be judged in terms of their innovative use of new technology and contribution to the development of youth education.

Specific Criteria

The Jurors will be asked to assign a minimum of 1 to a maximum of 10 points for each of the four areas that include
• Innovation,
• Users,
• Impact on Education, and
• Adaptability.
